Ceramics

I did briefly have the idea to try and make my 10 PPP illustrations as little ceramic brooches, but due to all the work tying up Vis Com and COP I decided that I just didn't have enough time to plan and execute this effectively. However, ceramics is definitely an area that I'm becoming increasingly interested in and would love to try in the future!

The three people who've really influenced my interest in ceramics are Alex Sickling, Charlotte Mei and Jen Collins. All three are illustrators, and I'm intrigued by the way that an illustrative style can translate to a 3-d object. The results are playful and full of character.  I feel that I have only recently begun to develop a clear visual language of my own, but I think some of my drawings and paintings could be very charming as ceramics.

Obviously we'll soon be breaking up for the Summer, but I've been looking for some opportunities for ceramics for beginners. I plan to spend some time in Edinburgh this summer, and the Ceramic Studios in Glasgow (only a short train ride away) regularly offer beginners workshops. I intend to look into these.
